Review of Superman Returns (2006) by Akiko A — 26 Oct 2015
When I first saw Superman Returns in theaters in 2006, I was not a fan, but after seeing it a second time on cable, I can see the merit in why they made the movie. Brandon Routh was not the best Superman but he did hold his own against Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.
(Kevin was certainly interersting casting.). Superman disappears without telling anyone why leaving behind chaos. He leaves to find out what happened to Krypton, only to return to Earth, finding out that the people who he had grown closest to, had moved on without him.
He does not feel as welcome as he once felt. Lois had met a new love Richard & has a son. Superman tries to find his place in this new environment while his nemesis Lex Luthor is out of jail & planning something big .
Lex has learned Superman's secret & weakness. Brian Singer brings a very human quality to the Man of Steel Story...and after watching the CW version of the DC Universe, there is room for Superman Returns.
