Review of Superman Returns (2006) by John Eric D — 02 Jun 2015
Kill me on this, but this the best Superman film I've seen. All I wanted to happen from the prequels, happens in this Singer's version. I freaking love it! Bryan Singer is a comic genius. He knows everything, he listens to what every fan wants, as he is a fan himself.
The first thing I noticed is the ambiance, it feels like an old 70's feel like it's an old film. Yet it happened in our generation. Superman Returns is like the first Superman film. Lex Luthor as a Superman's nemesis, has plans to change the world into his evil ambitions.
I love the casting on this one. I thought Brandon Routh as Superman is not bad at all. He handles the character very well, as much as we remember Christopher Reeves as the lead actor. One that shines here is the visuals.
I freaking love the visuals of this film. For instance, when Superman flies towards the middle of the ocean, that was fantastic. Another part where the city is in trouble, and Superman is flying around going to the underground, stopped the explosions using his wind powers.
Save the people from falling bricks using his lasers. Those shots are amazing. The sound quality on this is phenomenal. I was having fun throughout watching this on Blu-ray. The only flaws, I can see are the noticeable CGI's like its Matrix Revolutions again.
You can see the real Superman and the CGI'ed version. Even though, it doesn't affect the execution of this film. I was in awe each time I watched it. It feels like I'm watching the PJ's King Kong all over again.
It has that the same feel trust me. Definitely, one of the best Super hero films DC has got to offer. And I would not hesitate to watch it a hundred times. 5/5.
