Review of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) by Zane T — 15 Aug 2009

Superman III may have been bad, but at least it had the Good Superman vs. Bad Superman duel. This has Nuclear Man, played by an guy who had never acted in a movie before and hasn't since. It also has Jon Cryer trying to be hip with the younger audience.

Only Gene Hackman, hamming it up, seems to do good in this movie. Christopher Reeve is credited with helping write this movie and I guess Superman does need to protect the world from nuclear missles but dammit, we don't need politics in a comic book movie.

Nor do we need media satire. Bad special effects. Bad script. Bad all around.
