This is where the franchised started falling to its death.
Pryor is criminally miscast and underused: if you're going with Pryor, you have to let his brilliance shine; instead, you have a Superman movie that doesn't want to become a full fledged comedy but doesn't want to be serious either, so it is silly and stupid and - even with Pryor in the cast - unfunny.
I respect Lester and his movies, but his style didn't suit THIS Superman franchise.
