Review of Superman II (1980) by Patrick C — 27 Jul 2009
I watched this again for the first time in several years. It hasn't aged well. The special effects weren't even that good for the time and the tongue in cheek scenes detract from Reeve and Kidder's attempts to be dramatic.
Sarah Douglas is still sexy and Terenece Stamp is still malevolent. I think this movie came out before PG-13 and certainly suffers from its attempts to keep in the PG range. There is one scene where a jeep flips over and you can see the dirver in his seat smashed into another car.
In the next shot he s standing there shaking his head like he got hit with a tennis ball. This film suffers from a real split personality and is all the worse for it.
