Review of Superman II (1980) by Benjamin N — 04 Dec 2011
This one always remained my favourite Superman movie but the first film now holds that mantle. This has aged terribly & again some of the action portrayed by America's best in Homeland Defence look quite inept.
Terence Stamp is still quite good as General Zod but his sanctimonious actions throughout the film border on silly & something witnessed on the school playgrounds as kids act out their fantasies. It has a more adult theme & is slightly darker than the first.
The battle in Metrolpolis borders on comical with a few scenes slightly slapstick. Despite these slight flaws I love this film just for the scene when Clarke Kent returns to face the bully in the roadside diner.
