Review of Superman: Doomsday (2007) by Bertrand B — 07 Jul 2008
This is the first movie to portrait the events that happened during and after the epic battle between Superman and Doomsday.
Based on the Best Selling comic series that introduced the super villian best known for having 'killed' Superman.
I was slightly disappointed with the fact that this story deviated so far from the original comic. Let's face it; there is no point in making an animated version of the comic. However, for some reason I can't help but feel like this movie robbed the original story much of its integrity.
For starters, Doomsday was created on an ancient Krypton not by some weirdo alien race. Secondly, he was not some mechanical beast, but a continuously evolving biological being. His creator made him for one purpose; to be the ultimate being in the universe.
From a different point of view; keeping in mind the fact that this movie was launched for PG13s in mind, the producers and directors did a good job. With that in mind, I have to say I did enjoyed watching it.
Some scenes made me feel nostalgic. I miss my comics...
I wonder if the Manga team working on Batman: Gotham Knight would give it shot anytime soon?
