Review of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009) by Luke B — 05 Oct 2009
A bit of a disappointment. The ideas are all there. Luthor becomes President, encourages superheroes to work for him, before turning the public on Batman and Superman. It could work, if not for the 67 minute running time.
This has as much back story and as many interesting ideas as Watchmen, but that got 3 hours worth. DC should take these animated films VERY seriously, because if done right with the stories the fans want, they really will make a whole lotta cash.
The vocal performances are grand, but the action just starts and then ends. With villains and heroes out for both Supes and Bats, a lot of characters just show up and fight, before a bit more exposition.
An exciting 67 minutes, I just want quantity and quality.
