Review of Supergirl (1984) by Jarrell W — 29 Jul 2008
The director of this film was a fat French guy with seemingly no interest in even the tiniest amount of logic. Supergirl's costume appears as if by magic, her home planet is oddly located in a lake, and one outdoor scene features a clearly visible studio in the background.
But, it must be said that the special effects are for the most part spectacular (except for when Supergirl is almost crushed by the Power of Shadow), light years ahead of anything Superman did in the 70's-80's. Demi Moore was originally set to play Lucy Lane, and the intended script (i.e. the one the cast thought they were making) is very different to the resulting film. Though Supergirl is still sooooo much better than that Halle Berry Catwoman thing.
For overly-keen freaks like myself, the proper script is floating around on the net. I still shudder to think that Supergirl has her own film, even Elektra has her own film, yet Wonder Woman; the original and the best, is yet to grace the big screen. Grr.
