Review of Superbad (2007) by Yowazup — 18 Aug 2007
Low brow, but in a smart way, "Superbad" is the comedy for men who thought "Knocked Up," was too much of a chickflick, and for women who can look past the penis talk and find something subtle and smart(a lot more than you'd think).
Credited as a producer, Judd Apatow's Midas touch continues to turn to gold everything that sounds flat on paper as it makes its way to the big screen. "Superbad," is a virgin sex comedy about two high schoolers, Seth and Evan (Jonah Hill and Micheal Cera), in their last couple weeks of senior year who have spent a lifetime as the awkward kids who have yet to run the bases.
Alchohol seems to be their only answer to get with the girls of their wet dreams, and unlike the normal teen fair, each have a girl in mind, and both are complete in their characterizations. No girls seem to run around like faceless bodies.
Its not what you might expect from a teen comedy, all in a good way. Its fun and deep. Its what you want to see before you go back to school.
