Review of Superbad (2007) by Derek T — 17 Feb 2013
Writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg started writing Superbad when they were thirteen years old, and it shows. Though the movie includes a few moments of genuine comedic inspiration, the majority of the action is overly juvenile and sophmoric, often excessively so, to the point that the few funny moments are tainted by the overall grossness of the rest of the movie.
I can see why this movie was so popular, as it continues the tradition of high-school coming-of-age movies like American Graffiti or American Pie, but it just didn't resonate for me.
