Review of Superbad (2007) by Dann M — 23 Sep 2014
Produced by Judd Apatow and co-written by Seth Rogen, Superbad is hysterically funny. When three high school friends attempt to score alcohol for one of their classmate's parties they get into a series of crazy misadventures.
Starring Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Emma Stone, Bill Hader, Seth Rogen, and introducing Christopher Mintz-Plass, the film has great cast. However, the performances vary; Cera in particular is quite annoying at times, doing is trademark nervous shtick.
The comedy is also a little inconsistent; some sketches are outrageously hilarious while others fall flat. And, the vulgarity and crude humor is largely unnecessary and overused. It's messy and a bit unfocused, but Superbad delivers a lot of laughs.
