Review of Super Size Me (2004) by I Don't Know W — 07 May 2011
This is a very interesting documentary. The topic is good, the person conducting the experiments is funny and likable, and it has other discussions and interviews so the topic doesn't get old. Even with these compliments, I have one major complaint: the experiment explains in great detail something we already know: fast food is bad for you.
However, it's still interesting to see the effects of eating McDonalds every meal daily for 30 days. You constantly think the person who's conducting the experiments is going to give up, and it really keeps you focused.
Another major flaw I had with this movie is it often gets off topic and it sometimes doesn't talk about fast food as much as unhealthy food itself. One thing that this movie does extremely well is it's moral.
Before this movie, I loved McDonalds, but now, it terrifies me. I mean, gosh! All the things that happen this guy are freaky and sick (Pun very much intended). I'm surprised he didn't die from a heart attack during shoot! Overall: Its an entertaining and interesting documentary, but gross at times, so don't watch it if you get sick easily.
