Review of Super Size Me (2004) by Monsieur R — 05 Aug 2010
An indictment agains fast food, specifically the worst offender in the world, McDonalds.
And rightfully, so. Film maker Morgan Spurlock decided to eat nothing but McDonnald's "wholesome" food for a month. He provides a baseline for his health at the start of the film. Its great.
By the end of the month's experiment, Morgan is practically a heart attack or liver failure away from dying. Enough said.
The power of lobbying groups for the food industry is so great that these heroin substitutes in our society have gained not only respectability but legitamacy. They have infiltrated our schools with their sugary sodas, fat filled snacks and all the while giving us nutrition statements in a third of their restaurants.
This is a blood boiling film that will make you kick in your television unless you believe as so many do that we all have a choice.
The fact of the matter is our kids recognize Ronald McDonald over George Washington or even a picture of Jesus.
The killing fields have become fair game for the majority of Americans that see their local McDonalds franchise is a kid zone, free of health loaded problems. Nothing could be further than the truth. Only 2% of nutritionists are willing to admit that eating at a fast food restaurant is ok, EVER.
Obesity in America and no doubt the world has overtaken smoking as the leading health risk to anyone. Take it to the bank, Supersize Me is not kind to McDonnalds or any fast food chain.
Highly recommended to anyone suspicious of what they put in their mouth, food that is.
