I'm not gonna lie, I love the games to death. And this movie strays quite far away from the game, but while you watch it, pretend it wasn't based on a game, that the games don't exist. Then it doesn't have as high of standards and is just..... weird. But with this weirdness comes a very enjoyable and fun to watch movie. I can't honestly say it's a great movie, and can barely say it's good, but it's most certainly better than what the other critics have been saying. The humor is okay, the action isn't bad, the goomba design I'll admit was completely bull, but again, pretend you've never seen one before. Then all you can say about it is "wow, that looks really strange". Besides, even people who love the game have to admit they did a pretty good job on Yoshi. He may not be green, but other then that he looks good.

The plot itself is okay, it doesn't completely move off of the game topic, but it adds quite a few things into the movie, alot of which is really cool. And the background, wow. It's like Mushroom Kingdom, happy and fun, mixed with Gotham city and coolworld, dark and weird.

In conclusion (I've always wanted to do that), Super Mario Bros. Deserves more respect than it's given. It was the first or second video game movie, so it's not fair to expect the world, and it didn't give it to us. What it gave us was one hell of a movie that no one can possibly be able to forget.
