The same mistake that gets made in every game turned movie project.. and then some. Take a beloved franchise and ignore every element barring the names of characters, locations & Macguffins. If Hoskins or Leguizamo had attempted the classic looks, voices or moves of the characters it would have at least been a nod to the source material but the sheer bloody-mindedness of the production ensured there was no connection to the target audience.
