In order to really get a feel for and appreciate Super 8, you truly have to suspend your disbelief and put yourself in the shoes of the kids. It reminded me in a way of E.T., or at least I felt the same way after seeing both films.
I would've liked to see the whole idea of filming the train crash played out more throughout the movie, but I'm glad that I got what I paid for. Definitely a great movie to see this summer.
