This film reminds me of all the great 80's films I adore. From E.T to The Goonies, they all have a place in my film appreciation heart. Super 8 is a fantastic Sci-Fi adventure and the train crash screen is extremely impressive even on the small screen.
I've always been a fan of Abrams work. In Star Trek I became an advocate of his insistence of using copious amounts of lens flare but it worked really well in a reflective filled space ship setting, but here, the more I watch it, the more it just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Regardless, Super 8 is a great adventure. Watch this. 4/5.
