It's a virtual rehashing of ET except with more blood and much-less sympathetic alien. In fact, the alien is pretty much a jerk (not that other characters aren't). Besides that, there is a lot of sloppy extra subplots about the human characters' personal bickering pain related to other issues - they are clunky to say the least.
