Review of Super 8 (2011) by Brett M — 01 Jan 2013
Super 8 is one of those movies that brings back the classic feel of sci-fi movies from the late 70's-early 80's. This is mostly due to the fact that J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg created a well balanced movie that takes place during the 70's, with references from that decade all throughout the film. The setting was great, but the child actors were really something special in this flick. Actually, I think that the child actors had more to work with than the adults had, which is strange when considering that it is usually the other way around. The adult actors were just okay, but they weren't memorable. Another thing great about the movie is the suspense that is throughout the entire film. I have heard that most people did not like J.J. Abrams's movie called Cloverfield, which I believe had the same basic setup. If you didn't see this movie because you didn't like Cloverfield, you are really missing out, because this is a great film, and I think you should see it right now.
