Review of Super 8 (2011) by Jared T — 05 Feb 2013

Super 8 is a delightful slice of late 70's/early 80's goodness. Several times during the film I romanticized the way kids used to live and felt sad for my son that it simply won't be that way for him.

As far as the film, it's terrific. The comparisons are true- it's equal parts E.T. and Close Encounters with a touch of the cast of Goonies mixed in.

There's problems, no doubt, in the film. The last 20 minutes kept this from 4.5 or even 5 stars. But it's such a refreshing break from the riptide of "now" films that I easily overlook the minor flaws.
