Review of Super 8 (2011) by Dr. F P — 17 Mar 2013

One of the best movies I have seen at the cinema in a while, I was there on my own at 11pm and it couldn't have been more perfect. The sound effects were incredible, I thought my heart was going to blow up when the alien hit the army bus, and may I add in that scene the music score is incredible! The sets and 70's time period are great, whilst it felt modern it also felt retro, I couldn't help but smile at all the costumes and hair cuts, vehicles and technology.

What really did it for me was all the kids making monster movies, it inspired me that no matter how crap your situation you can always make something if your dad has a camera. My only gripe is the ending which was a bit odd, I felt underwhelmed by it, but thats just me.

I'm probably blowing up on this film because I didn't read the hype but I really didn't clockwatch, which I expect to happen in nearly every sci-fi blockbuster type movie I see.
