Super 8 feels longer than it is by about half an hour, and it's never clear what it's trying to do with it's story and narrative until the last 15 or so minutes, something that annoyed me greatly even after the film was over.
But J.J. Abrams delivers a visually impressive movie with some great performances from child actors and a nice late 70's setting. Super 8 is a good film, but not a great one.
