Review of Super 8 (2011) by Jacob C — 08 Nov 2013
While original and nostalgic, Super 8 is no more than a decently thought-out blockbuster that has sub par acting and great visuals. It seems as if Hollywood ran out of ideas and J.J. Abrams wanted to recycle the 50s B-movie.
Super 8 just doesn't work well. The idea of an alien monster invading a small town isn't something we haven't seen before, and nothing new is added this time around. The acting of the children is really the only bright spot among the cast, and I'm using bright quite generously in this case.
I didn't really enjoy Super 8. It couldn't keep my interest and lacked suspense.
