Yes. I'm one of the few who didn't like Super 8. It's a beautiful homage to the Spielbergian coming-of-age movies in the vein of The Goonies and Stand by Me. It works on that level. My problem is that it's tonally jumbled.
One second it's scary. The next second it's action-packed. The next second it's funny. The monster is supposed to be scary and it eats people and all but then the next second we're supposed to feel sympathy for it? The movie just feels all over the place.
It's trying to be too many things. For that reason, it disappointed me.
