Review of Super 8 (2011) by James C — 18 Jan 2013
Say what you will, I love this movie and most people will agree with me. From the people I know I have heard mixed reviews of this one and I am on the side that will recommmend this to almost anyone. It's a fun, exciting, and emotional movie packed with story and the old monster movie action that we all love.
Nostalgia runs high while watching this film and it can only bring the happiest of memories to most people, not me because I am too young to feel this way, but that's beside the point. Even though there are some outrageous events that unfold that don't exactly make the most amount of sense, you just ignore it and enjoy.
That's a quality that I love about this movie, you just don't worry about the parts that are a little out there. Another movie with that quality is Fight Club. You just let it go. I think it's because it's emotional pull that it has on people make it so you can just let it go and just enjoy the movie.
It stops critics from heckling about that stupid stuff that doesn't matter. Or maybe it's just that it has enough great qualities to it that you can forget about those outrageous things that happen and it evens itself out.
Well, either way this is a very well made movie, clevor, emotionally gripping, and compelling action sequences build it up to where it is. I kinow this has some haters out there, but I like it and I think it can be classified as a minor classic.
