Review of Super 8 (2011) by Sebastian O — 20 Aug 2013
A disappointing Abrams-Spielberg film. It was as if they were trying to make both a romantic film-noir and a scientific blockbuster, while failing at both. It starts off fairly interesting - some good comedy, nice moments - and, almost out of nowhere, becomes a Hollywood sci-fi with Spielberg-typical finale music before revealing a less-than humorous scrolling credits.
