Review of Super 8 (2011) by Good Looking R — 06 Sep 2013
"Super 8" is directed and written by J.J.Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. Well, this combination is good enough to make a brilliant film.
Story unfolds during the summer of 1979 , when a group of friends witness a train crash and investigate subsequent unexplained events in their small town.
The cast is excellent. Joel Courtney really surprised me, he played his character Joe Lamb brilliantly especially in the last scenes. Elle Fanning as Alice Dainard proves to be a good actress in this film. She's really good in emotional scenes and her chemistry with Courtney is good. Other child actors are fantastic too. Also, Ron Eldard and Kyle Chandler does good job.
J.J.Abrams's direction is perfect. Abrams added some good emotional scenes. He developed each character with lot of care. Script is almost flawless. Plot is thrilling and gripping. Cinematography is really good. Special effects are mind-blowing especially in train scene. Only problem of this film is that story is bit similar to E.T.
Overall, "Super 8" is an excellent film packed with mind blowing special effects and captivating plot.
