Review of Super 8 (2011) by Mikez M — 07 Jun 2013

Being a J.J. Abrams fan, I wanted to see this before it disappeared from the theaters. I heard mixed reviews but didn't let it deter me from going to see it. We toyed with the idea of bringing the kids (11 & 8) but in the end decided to hold off, which was probably best for the 8 year old.

This film definitely shines of Spielberg, who was the producer of the film. It's quite apparent that he's had an impact on Abrams. The film's strength is the character development and story telling.

It's not big on action and humor but does have moments of it that shine through. The people that didn't enjoy it were probably those who were looking for more of an action / horror movie. This really isn't that but I, personally, enjoyed it.
