Review of Super 8 (1988) by Nicholas S — 02 Dec 2012

I really enjoyed Super 8. I really brought me back to my childhood by paying homage to movies such as E.T., Close and Encounters, Goonies, Stand By Me, and even The Thing! There was also a kind of Cloverfield thing going on in the movie too.

The young actors in the movie were really good, so good in fact that I actually had a vested interest in their survival. Oh my lord! How good was that train crash!!! It was so well done. I read in a few reviews before seeing the movie that the last half of the movie was a let down.

I disagree. I found that it all just worked. O.k there was a cheese factor in some of the ending scenes but again it worked well to end the story. Overall Super 8 is a bloody good movie from director JJ Abrams.

You can really feel Spielberg patting Abrams on the back for this movie.
