The problem with viral campaigns is that it is so easy for the ultimate result to be a let-down. "Super 8" is an ok movie, but just ok. Certainly not original or groundbreaking. In fact it is just like a modern take on "The Goonies", with references to numerous other 80s (Spielberg) classics thrown in.
As an homage to the Spielberg films of the 80's, this movie succeeds. As a piece of original entertainment? Not as much.
