Review of Super (2010) by Bruno B — 24 Nov 2011
The surprisingly thorough character development justifies the extreme violence and gore in Super, allowing us to forgive the flaws in writing or plot. It's a cartoon--we expect Donald Duck to have only 3 fingers.
We really like Wilson's character and appreciate that he pulls no punches in carrying out his purpose. Page's character is naive, and she tackles the sidekick role with abandon, accepting the need for bloodshed without flinching.
Kevin Bacon's bad guy was fun to hate, again justifying the bloodshed. I like Rainn Wilson's quirky characters (The Rocker) and hope he is able to remain just outside mainstream and stay afloat.
