Review of Super (2010) by Nicholas W — 19 Mar 2012
Brilliantly dark film that takes the dysfunctional superhero genre to a whole 'nother level. It makes Kick-Ass seem tame by comparison. Ellen Page nails her character and perfectly captures the psychotic, adrenaline-junkie psyche that a real superhero would probably have.
There are no sacred cows in this film and the director seems to go to pains to give the audience exactly what they don't want and what they're not expecting. This is a perfectly executed f-you to the superhero genre.
Loved it!
