Many people think this is a indie rip off of Kick Ass. It is not. The creators of both stories are actually friends. Neither thinks the other ripped off the idea. They have similarities but the tone and subtext and motivations and characters are different.
Both are dark and funny and sad and heroic but only Super is a true tragedy. It also seems remotely possible in real life. You must like dark movies with heart and no obvious or clear cut good people to enjoy this film.
If u like Brick, Heathers, Happiness, the rivers edge, and films like these u will love Super.
