Review of Super (2010) by Phil H — 14 Jul 2015
Ick. This was a strange, bumpy ride, but I think I like where it took me. The Crimson Bolt walks the precarious line between fighting for what's right and fighting to satisfy his psychotic desires to bring his version of good to the world, and it's a scary thing to watch at times.
"Super" is a bit too gruesome at times, so don't go into this film expecting to see a light-hearted comedy. It's called dark humor for a reason: you will spend 96 minutes cringe-chuckling.
After the wild and uncomfortable ride is over, you are rewarded with a semi-satisfying conclusion (but the only one that seems right, considering the actions committed by the protagonist throughout the film) and about a week of contemplating the moral and ethical questions raised by "Super.
" Watch it if you're in to mood for something different, weird, fun, uncomfortable, and thought-provoking.
