Review of Sunshine Cleaning (2008) by Shane D — 03 Mar 2012
A pleasant film that gets very close to making the emotional moves that would elevate it to being a brilliantly heartbreaking/uplifting effort but it falls just short of doing it. Another brilliant performance from Adams, who must surely be one of the most underrated actresses out there (although I am getting used to seeing her act in her underwear in every second film), Arkin is good as usual and whilst Blunt is also great, she is burdened by ridiculously striking good looks which can actually play against her in "plain jane" roles as this.
I think where the film begins to start wrapping things up is where it loses its grip on what it was nicely building towards. Still, I enjoyed it.
