Review of Sunshine Cleaning (2008) by Michael H — 19 Jan 2010
This film is put together well from start to finish. I loved the cast and their performances were top of the line. I was particularly fond of the character, Winston (Clifton Collins, Jr.) Although you sympathized with his disability you are more focused on his ability! His character is portrayed with feeling and depth which are essential as he ties the whole story together.
The biggest problem I had was the "grainy, quirky, hey look at me, I'm an Indie film" attitude this movie had. For me, it was distracting and unnecessary. Look, I love Indie films, I GET the whole Indie film genre.
It's time to stop sacrificing the quality for the sake of the "I'm an Indie" label. It's a fad that's worn out it's welcome in my book.
