Review of Sunshine Cleaning (2008) by Rose W — 11 Apr 2010
I loved the characters in this film. These two sisters lose their mom early in life-she commits suicide. Rose has a dead-end cleaning job and her sister is fired as a waitress. Rose is a single mother struggling to raise a precocious child whom she would like to send to private school and she is also engaging in an fruitless affair with a married man.
She and her unreliable sister decide to start their own business cleaning up after crime scenes. However, Rose's need to be acknowledged by her former high school mates as a success and her sister's unreliability lead to a major setback in the business.
Eventually their father comes to Rose's rescue to help her realize her dream of success. Hugely entertaning.
