Review of Sunshine Cleaning (2008) by Sean W — 04 Apr 2011
The first word that comes to mind when thinking about this film is, âconflicted.â? It never really settles on what kind of movie it wants to be. It tends to stray off into different subplots, each as uninteresting as the next.
The idea of two sisters running a crime scene clean-up operation is interesting enough as is! Why fill the story with shit we donâ(TM)t care about? The love affair with the guy who wonâ(TM)t leave his wife.
The relationship with the woman that goes absolutely nowhere. Iâ(TM)m ranting, and lacking in details about the actual plot of the story. To be honest, I watched this movie a week ago and didnâ(TM)t care enough about it to post a review right away.
Amy Adams couldnâ(TM)t be unattractive if she tried, so she makes a compelling enough lead. Emily Blunt never really did it for me, and this movie doesnâ(TM)t give her a chance to either. The premise was there, the movie occasionally touches on something worth watching, but only before it segues into another boring sub-plot, or Alan Arkin putting on his âIndy role hat.
â? Wait, Iâ(TM)ve got another word that comes to mind when thinking of this movie, â Meh.â?
