Review of Sunshine (2013) by Miranda Z — 06 Dec 2012
I first watched this a few years ago, with a friend. Younger and more easily scared back then, we'd stopped about four-fifths of the way through the movie. Why? Well, Pinbacker employed highly advanced equipment, 'ordinary' tools, to kill other crew members that I'd grown to like very much, and that freaked me out. But when I saw a song from the soundtrack listed in a video, it reminded me that I had yet to watch the ending.
So I did.
And I found out why this was classified as a simple sci-fi movie rather than a horror one, which I had been given the impression that that was what it was, long ago. The ending was unbearably bittersweet, and I watched it twice, awed that I could've gotten it so wrong about this movie. Though a little confusing, visually this is pretty good, and in the end you understand, if not everything, the important parts.
