Review of Sunshine (2007) by Thomas P — 22 Apr 2014
Great visuals, music, and concept, but the lousy cardboard characters and the irrational left turn into a slasher flick - these ruined it all.
They are so underdeveloped that when it turns into a horror survival movie, no one cares who lives or dies.
And despite an eloquent ending, its not enough to cover over the plot holes and the missed opportunity of building any suspense by letting some characters try to figure out who the slasher is and then try to defend themselves, etc.
You r kept at a distance from these characters, and its too clinically handled overall - decent actors, bad direction.
Dont waste ur time here.
To compare -.
I loved Trainspotting - another Danny Boyle movie.
The characters naturally develop in their situations, and the huge statements about careless drug use and its aftermath is truly terrifying.
Watch that - again if need be.
Just skip this.
1 out of 5 holes in the space suit..
