Review of Sunshine (2007) by Ben T — 31 Jan 2012
After the sun begins to die, along with Earth-a team of astronauts are sent to restore the sun, but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new crew is sent to finish what was planned. This crew just so happens to be the Earth's last hope.
The premise of this film makes it seem like an explosive action movie, but instead it is a study of human personalities, goals, emotions, and behavior. As the film starts we (as the audience) are being introduced to the crew who attempt to save the Earth. They all have different personalities, but we know they all have the same goal: to finish the mission. Sometimes, space movies can make us feel claustrophobic because in most scenes, everyone is trapped inside a ship. But thankfully, in this film the ship is large enough to contain different rooms. There's even a garden in this one! In a result: there is life to this film. Because the characters are vastly concentrated on, they are made memorable-along with the film itself. But it isn't just the characters that play such a divine purpose-it is everything else along with it. From the emotionally moving soundtrack, the stunning visuals, and intelligent action. Altough, towards the ending-the plot seems to belong in some kind of Sci-fi horror film, but don't worry it's sure to entertain.
