Review of Sunset Song (2015) by Aïko G — 16 Oct 2016
Sunset Song is an emotional drama that gave me beautiful visuals with great detail, great acting of the lead actress but also a story that begins powerfully but drags on in the second half and results in an overall mixed result.
We go through a huge part of the life of Chris Guthrie, ranging from when she was young and had to live with an aggressive father to her being independent and finding love and ending with her happy life being ruined by World War 1.
The Scottish landscapes are absolutely beautiful, the daily lives and communities of the farmers is what deserves most credit in my eyes. It is very detailed and feels really genuine. Agyness Deyn put up a very great performance, but was unable to stop the second part of the movie being absolutely boring and uninteresting.
Had they not dragged this movie on that long, it could have been completely different.
