Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Stephen E — 02 May 2012
"Sunset Boulevard" is one of the best-looking films of its time. It's also one of the darkest. Both William Holden and Gloria Swanson do a great job in their roles, though Swanson obviously gets the more attention of the two, which is fair to say the least.
"Sunset Boulevard" is definitely hard-hitting and bleak, especially towards its grim but inevitable end, and even though the plot moves at an agonizingly slow pace, the film is so well-made that it's hard to complain.
