Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Gavin S — 25 Jul 2012
Darker and better than Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, that seems to me to be the closest comparison.
A film that can boast one of the most perfect beginnings and ends in cinema and one that can never be accused of not keeping you interested, the blows keep on coming with each character explored so you feel you know them yourself. Full of style and class and brilliant shots and brilliant dialogue. A twilight zone-esque narration to it and fantastic acting not to mention the back stories behind them to go along with the interest of the film.
If ever a film deserved classic status, twas this.
Dynamite location for a film as well. And a film that becomes darker when you think of the time it was shot. (I.e 1950 when films were light hearted, as you would assume).
