Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Peter F — 11 Sep 2012
One of the most genre pushing classics of the 1950s, and for some unfathomable reason it's still one of the very few film noirs to have explored classic Hollywood. Certainly well-acted and directed, Sunset Boulevard's greatest attribute remains Billy Wilder's highly original screenplay, which is still fairly unconventional by today's standards.
It's also a very funny film too, which keeps Sunset Boulevard's darker moments out of the realm of melodrama. A must see if ever there was one.
