Is it often imitated? Yes. Is it never duplicated? Yes. Is it superbly acted? Yes. Is it charming? Yes. Is it one of the more important films in history? Yes. Does it have a fantastic ending? Yes. You could even ask if the camera work and lighting were up to snuff, and the answer would be more than yes.
But yes is also the answer to these questions: is the music over the top and out of place? Is the pacing significantly, I dare say very, slugggish? Is the narration more than over bearing? Is it overrated? Here are two more questions: Is it very good? Yes.
Is it a masterpiece? No, though some would beg to differ. B.
