Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Simon D — 30 Apr 2014
What, exactly, is so special about htis film that it appears consistenly on lists of the greatest films ever made? It's not rubbish but I just don't see anything spectacular about it. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't a musical, which I always thought it was for some reason.
The story is ok but it's not funny, or sad, or exciting. It's just an ordinary story. Perhaps it was lauded in Hollywood by people who could relate to Norma and just got stuck up there in the lists for ever more.
