Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Deadly Night S — 02 Aug 2009
Wow! When they say this is a classic to see, please believe them! Gloria Swanson shines as the old actress gone off her rocker in this eerie tale of jealousy, deceit, madness, and murder. I thought I might enjoy this, and I was certainly right.
The story of the washed-up silent film actress living as a hermit in the days of dialogue and technicolor, her half-imprisonment of a young screenwriter, and her total immersion in a fantasy of fame is enrapturing.
Every moment that Swanson is on-screen she captivates. If you are into classic cinema, don't skip out on this one. Definitely worth your time.
