Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Valentina K — 01 Sep 2011
Being about a silent film actress's struggles with growing old and trying to cling on to the last bits of usefulness she may have, I found it appropriate and not at all inconvenient that this film is in black and white. Don't let that scare you out of watching this movie.
One of the best aspects of it is that you know how it's going to end right at the beginning, so Gillis' fate does not come as a surprise. The acting of Gloria Swanson is so believable that she made me feel uneasy throughout the entire movie.
